Guide to Pool Designs
If you are installing a swimming pool, you are no longer limited to standard, stock designs. There are a plethora of designs out there for you to select from, not to mention custom pool designs that allow you to make your pool fantasy come to life. The following are the most common pool designs that you may be presented with when you are designing your dream pool:
- Beach entry pool design. The beach entry design allows for access to the pool without the need for steps. This design allows you to walk right off the patio and into the water that starts out at ¼” or so and becomes progressively deeper. This design is often chosen by those who have elderly or physically challenged swimmers in the home, or for those who are unable to climb up and down the pool ladder for any reason.
- Custom pool design. If none of the ‘stock’ pool designs on the market appeal to you, then you may want to go with a custom pool design. This will allow you to choose the features, shape, size, and more in order to get a design that distinguishes your pool from others. Custom pool designs can allow you to have what you consider to be the components of an ideal swimming area instead of choosing from pre-formatted pool designs that can be replicated again and again.
- Kidney pool design. A kidney shaped pool is often found in posh resorts around the world, and like the name suggests, it is shaped like a kidney bean – with two rounded sections, one smaller than the other. Perfect for the tropical or Caribbean inspired home, or those who enjoy the feel of resort living.
- Roman/Grecian pool design. Roman or Grecian pools are characterized by their round ends and rectangular shape and are inspired by Roman and Greek architecture. This spa or resort style pool is great for homes that feature similar architectural properties or for homes that are not too dramatic or ornately styled.
- Traditional geometric pool design. Rectangular, oval, and round pools are the most common and are perfect for the homeowner who wants a simple design that is visually pleasing and functional. It is often the traditional pool design that is chosen by those homeowners on a budget as they are the least expensive choice.
With a bit of creativity, you can definitely find the right pool design for your upcoming pool installation and end up with a pool that you and your family will enjoy for years to come!
