This all round water sports sandal features a tough construction to cope with the additional forces and pressure from walking through water, with quick drying uppers and a razor sipped Vibram rubber tread for grip on slippery riverbeds. Able to cope with the corrosive effects of salt water, they are perfect for the beach, sailing and kayaking and offer protection from unseen underwater hazards.
The sandals feature a wetsuit style Neoprene and Lycra lining to keep them comfortable and secure in the wet, and a removable heel strap turns them into a slide sandal for around the pool and the beach. Whilst many sandals lack support, the Merrell Waterpro feels really secure and protective thanks to the rear stability posts and strong synthetic leather uppers. An Aegis antimicrobial treatment keeps the sandals healthy, whilst the uppers are designed to dispel water quickly. The sticky Vibram rubber TC5+ sole is razor sipped to help improve traction underwater, whilst being equally good on muddy river banks and for general summer walking.
The Merrell Downstreamis a more robust sandal, designed for comfort walking, and is great for splashing about in the water. Thicker straps and two chunky side bars offer greater protection and it is an excellent intermediate sandal between the water sports range and Merrell hiking sandals.
